Citroen DS5 - Production ready at Frankfurt
The Citroen DS5 debuted at Shanghai earlier this year – after a suitable tease, of course – but is arriving at Frankfurt as a production-ready car. Not that we can work out what Citroen has changed on the DS5 to make it production-ready. It still looks concept-y good to our eyes, and has a more than fighting chance of making inroads against more conservatively styled competition.

UK new car sales have nudged upwards by 2.4% in July 2009 – the first increase for 15 months. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which collates registration figures, claimed that the scrappage scheme was responsible for the jump. Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, said: ‘The impact of the scrappage scheme is clear and we are encouraged by the positive impact it has had, increasing new car registrations since April 2008.
For years, police have hit the streets with the reliable but aging Ford Crown Victoria. That car has now been retired, and the Detroit Three are rolling out replacements. Ford now makes an Interceptor version of the Taurus, Dodge has the Charger and Challenger police vehicles, and Chevrolet is coming back with a revamped version of its Caprice.
